Upscalling & Implemetation Details:

CIPAD received KES 6,813,000 in December 2021 to implement a 2-year project titled “Enhancing food security, nutrition and economic empowerment of smallholder farmers through promoting adoption of KALRO resilient and high yielding Green grams varieties in Tharaka Nithi County“. The main objective of the project to upscale three new high yielding green gram varieties (Karembo, Biashara and Ndengu Tosha) to improve the livelihood of the farmers.

The project is working with farmer groups that are coordinated by lead farmers. The project is using demonstration sites as the platforms for; training farmers, and creating linkages with input suppliers, financial service providers and market. The project targets to reach 2,000 farmers directly and 20,000 farmers indirectly and ends on 21st December 2023.
