Upscalling & Implemetation Details:

Caritas Murang’a received KES 6,813,000 in January 2022 to implement a 2-year project titled “Establishing Scalable Approaches for Avocado Value Chain among Smallholder Farmers in Murang’a County “. The project is working with farmer groups and supporting them to adopt Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices.

The project aims to train lead farmers on IPM in order to promote effective management and control of diseases and pests. The farmers will also be linked to suppliers of quality bioproducts and other inputs. The key focus is to minimize the excessive use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers to enable the farmers to access the export market. The project targets to reach 3,000 farmers directly and 15,000 farmers indirectly. The project is ending on 26th January 2024.
