Grain Amaranths Value Chain Project
Upscalling & Implemetation Details:
Ripple Effect received KES 6,813,000 in 2022 to implement a 2-year project titled ‘Adoption of KALRO’s Improved Grain Amaranth Varieties for Increased Incomes, Food and Nutrition Security’. The project introduced production of grain amaranths for the first time to the communities in Migori County.
The project works with farmers organized into groups to conduct training and create linkages with suppliers and financial service providers. It also facilitates participation in the commodity market. The project utilizes the pass on a gift approach to roll out the technologies to the farmers, and targets to benefit 1,600 farmers.
