KIIC value chain Project

Upscalling & Implemetation Details: Dorcas Aid International received KES 6,813,000 in March 2022 to implement a 2-year project titled “Upscaling Kalro Improved Indigenous Chicken in Kisumu and Siaya Counties “. The project is implemented by Dorcas Aid partner, Gem Community Development Program based in Siaya County. The project is working with farmer groups led by selected brooders who support the project to rear the chicks for 2-4 weeks before they are distributed to the group members. The aim of brooding is to reduce the mortality of day-old chicks. Gem Community Development Program is also working closely with Siaya Cooperative as the off-takers of the chicken. The project targets to reach 750 farmers directly and 14,400 farmers indirectly. The project ends on 20th March 2024.
