KALRO Improved Indigenous Chicken Value Chain Project

Upscalling & Implemetation Details:

FSK received KES 6,813,000 in April 2020 to implement a 2-year project titled ‘Transforming Households in Bomet and Narok Counties through KALRO Kienyeji Chicken’. The project is implemented in Bomet, West Pokot and Narok Counties. The overall objective of the action is to contribute to improved food, nutrition, and income security for 12,500 beneficiaries in the project Counties.

Specifically, food and nutrition security is to  increase through increased production and consumption of Kienyeji chicken and their products.  The income security of households (HHs) is to increase through improved chicken productivity and farmer-level organization into Farmers' Marketing Federations (FMFs), integration into profitable value chains, improved access to market information and financial services and agri-enterprise development in the Kienyeji chicken value chain.
