Projects Implemetation Overview:
STIPA is upscaling three value chains
namely; Beans, KIIC, and sorghum value chain projects as follows:
STIPA implements crop projects through
a model called Mother and Baby innovation platform. The Mother plots serve as
demonstration farms to foster farmer-to-farmer learning. This is the field
school where farmers come to learn step-by-step processes of production to
post-harvest activities. The farm is owned and managed by selected lead farmers
with adequate managerial ability to plant all three varieties, including a
common old cultivar as a Control. The baby plot belongs to individual farmers,
who cultivate at least one preferred new variety and one common old cultivar as
a Control. The objective of the model is to reach a large number of farmers for
mass production for the market.
